We will protect our children and family members to the best of our ability. It is almost instinct to take up for our sister on the playground. We are proud to make sure our brother gets home from school safely. As we mature, we begin to protect our own children, selecting homes in a neighborhood where there is a speed bump and park so they can ride their bikes and play safely. We vigilantly select a school that will invest in and guide our children as a way of protecting their future. We do not allow them to participate in certain activities or go places that we view as trouble. We feel so strongly about the rules that we make to keep them safe. We implement consequences when they do not follow our rules and stay within the safety net we have provided. Imagine how much more Father in heaven will protect us from evil. Isn’t it good to know that our Father, the omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent God will protect us from all harm? Hallelujah, we serve an awesome God! He knows where dangers lurk and builds a fence of protection around us so that we are kept free from harm. It is truly amazing how sometimes those around us may suffer calamities and we are spared! Blessed is the name of the Lord. There is a scripture Psalm 91 is a great encouragement to me in this area. It reminds me that if I dwell in the secret place of the most High, then I shall abide under the shadow of the shadow of the Almighty. It is good to be covered. Today we don’t want to go out into the rain without an umbrella or some type of covering to keep us from getting wet. It is more crucial to be safe in the fortress of God! Make the Lord your refuge! Then our Father will protect you!
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
